21. majNewsPatrick Dove, Los territorios del mal: Literature, Evil and the Question of HistoryInstitut za filozofiju i društvenu teoriju, sala na IV spratu u 14h In this talk I discuss how the posthumous work of Roberto Bolaño, and in particular his opus magnum 2666, reflect on literary history and the crisis of modernity at the end of the millennium. I propose that the literary fascination with evil illuminates a site where Bolaño grapples with the question of history, with and against Hegelian and Marxian philosophies of history and in an effort to think how it might be experienced otherwise. Patrick Dove is Professor of Latin American Literature in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University in the United States. His research explores intersections between literature, philosophy, psychoanalysis, and political thought. His most recent book, Literature and “Interregnum”: Globalization, War, and the Crisis of Sovereignty in Latin America, was published in 2016 by the State University of New York Press. He is currently working on a book project that examines the shift from antagonism to “post-ideological” forms of violence and anomie in Central America.
