What is critical thinking today?

Place: Omladinski centar CK13, Vojvode Bojovića 13, Novi Sad

Time: at 19:00 on 29.05.2018

What is critical thinking today? Has critique lost its social relevance and, if so, to what extent? Is there a need for critique today? What forms of critique are still useful? Is there a false critique, a pseudocritique? Many answers have been offered lately and various new questions arise. Withing such a framework, the Regional Scientific Center at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory will organize a conversation about the contemporary state of critical thinking. The impetus comes from recently pubished books addressing the question of critique today:

  • Gazela Pudar Draško: O čemu govorimo kada govorimo o intelektualcu? (What are We Talking About When We Talk About the Intellectual?) (IFDT, 2017)
  • Marjan Ivković: Kritička teorija Aksela Honeta – ka prevazilaženju metafizike (Axel Honnet’s Critical Theory – Toward Overcoming Metaphysics) (IFDT, 2017)
  • Džudit Batler / Mišel Fuko: Šta je kritika? (Judith Butler / Michel Foucault What is Critique) (prir. Adriana Zaharijević, Predrag Krstić) (IFDT – Akademska knjiga, 2018)

Participants: Adriana Zaharijević (IFDT, Belgrade), Dušan Ristić (Faculty of Philosophy, Novi Sad), Gazela Pudar Draško (IFDT, Belgrade), Marjan Ivković (IFDT, Belgrade), Predrag Krstić (IFDT, Belgrade). Moderator: Mark Lošonc (IFDT, Belgrade).
