Ugo Mattei

Ugo Mattei (University of California, Hastings College of the Law / Università di Torino) is the Alfred and Hanna Fromm Professor of International and Comparative Law at the University of California-Hastings, in San Francisco, and a full Professor of Civil Law at the University of Turin, Italy. In recent years, Mattei has oriented the focus of his research towards the study of the commons, also in his role as the Academic Coordinator of the International University College of Turin, a radically new school where issues of law and finance in global capitalism are critically approached. Mattei was the first Chairman of the innovative experience of management of the whole metropolitan water system in Naples as a commons (2012-14), and as the current Vice Mayor of Chieri, a town in Piedmont, he is promoting the first International Festival of the Commons, which will take place there in July 2015.
