Cooke Maeve

Maeve Cooke (University College Dublin) is Professor of Philosophy at University College Dublin, Ireland and a member of the Royal Irish Academy. Her current research interests are guided by the question of truth in social and political theory; she is also working on conscience-based, democratic dissent. Her principal book publications areLanguage and Reason: A Study of Habermas’s Pragmatics (MIT Press, 1994) and Re-Presenting the Good Society(MIT Press, 2006). She is editor and translator of Habermas: On the Pragmatics of Communication (MIT Press, 1998) and has published many articles in scholarly journals and books, mainly in the areas of social and political philosophy. She has held visiting appointments at several universities in the USA and Europe and is on the editorial board of a number of scholarly journals.
