Dragan Stanojević is a Professor at the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. The most important empirical research in which he participated fall within the field of Sociology of family and Sociology of youth such as: Young people, actors of social change (2010-2012), Single-parent families in Serbia (2011) and Family life in Serbia (2008). He is the author and co-author of several studies such as: New Fatherhood in Serbia, A Sociological Study on Practices and Identities of Fathers (2018), Young People in Serbia 2015: Conditions, Observations, Beliefs and Hopes (2015), Single-Parent Families in Serbia: A Sociological Study (2014), etc. The publication “New Fatherhood in Serbia, A Sociological Study on Practices and Identities of Fathers” will be presented at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade on June 12, 2019, starting at 5 p.m. The publication is based on the research on practices and identities of fathers, as well as on the norms of paternity within the social context of contemporary Serbia. The results show that the “new fatherhood” is realized within the domestic context either through an individualistic concept in which parenthood is just another identity and a specific sphere of the realization of a man or through the concept of sacrifice where fathers also adopt traditional characteristics of parenthood.
